You don't have to be in crisis to ask for help

Sad middle-aged woman

A lot of people wait. They wait until things feel unbearable, until the stress becomes too much, until they've tried everything else on their own. But mental health support isn't just for moments of crisis. It's for the quiet struggles too – the sleepless nights, the low energy, the tension that won't let go.

That’s when people may turn to substance use. It can feel like relief in the moment, but over time, it often adds to the weight rather than lifting it.

If you've been coping with stress, anxiety, depression or substance use, reaching out early can make a real difference. You don't need to have the right words or have it figured out. You just have to start.

Your Medicaid Expansion plan includes resources to support your mental and physical health.

One of them is Learn to Live, a confidential, self-guided program available any time, day or night. It covers stress, anxiety, depression and substance use, with coaching available by phone, text or email. Learn to Live is a part of your benefits through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Dakota and available at no additional cost to you.

BCBSND teams can also help coordinate transportation, meals and lodging associated with medical care.

These services may be available at no cost to you and must be pre-approved by BCBSND.
