Medicaid Expansion Members Have Two Identification (ID) Cards

A Blue Cross Blue Shield of ND ID card and a North Dakota Medicaid ID card

It’s important to keep both cards, and not throw either of them away. Although it may be confusing to have two ID cards as a member, each has a different use. Remember to keep both cards with you and don’t let others use them.

  1. The ND Medicaid ID is used to fill your prescription drugs at a pharmacy. It is either the newer teal colored card or the older gold colored card. Your prescriptions are covered through the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services, and not through BCBSND.If you have questions about prescription drug coverage, please call 1-800-755-2604 (TTY 711).

  2. The BCBSND ID Card is used when you need medical services. It is white with a blue BCBSND logo.

               Use this card for:

a.      Doctor visits, x-rays and lab work
b.      Hospital services like ER visits and ambulance Mental health services
c.      Other services as described in your Certificate of Insurance
